Miniature Golfing

Today we took our 2 and 4 year old neice and nephew to the mini golf place. Most of you would say "Are you crazy, they are wayyyy to young!" My husband actually asked if it was a good idea to bring them there!
However, we had a very successful day! My nephew just turned four and loves doing things in an "orderly fashion" We started our day with an observation of the chip and putt course and then the driving range. Everyone was getting excited about choosing a club and our favorite color ball. We brought a plastic club for the two year old and then the four year used a child's club. We did not keep score but worked on finding the numbers on each hole. Brian (4 year old) worked on getting it into the each hole in a systematic fashion while Shannon (age 2) practiced more a pool technique with the end of the club. It was a great exposure to numbers, descriptive words (bumpy, spiral, towered, letter T) and shapes. The course is completely fenced in and we were the only group there. We went through every hole once or twice and hole number 16 (our favorite) 10 times just to get the perfect shot! It is a great way to work on eye hand coordination, patience and counting!
We ended the day with a Rita's Water Ice! Does life get any better as an Aunt?

What fun!
I haven't even thought about taking our 3 year old, but if you found just the right place (like you did) and it wasn't crowded, I bet she would have a blast too! Where did you take your niece and nephew? If it is in Northern NJ, I'd love to know the place so I can try and go too! |
