This blog is a place where I will be talking about life with a three year old as seen through the eyes of her teacher/mother. I hope to share a few laughs, insights, book talks, and anything else that might run through my mind.

If you want to let your child experiment with shaving cream, but are afraid of the mess it can make, now is the time to go outside! Kate and two of her friends were having fun playing in her wading pool. I saw them pouring buckets full of water onto the plastic picnic table and got an idea. If I sat them down and squirted some shaving cream in front of them, they could use it like finger paint!
They loved it! Kate and her 3 year old friend Michael went right at it, swirling the cream around and rubbing it on their arms and hands. Her 2 year old friend Mike was a little more hesitant, and only dipped a finger into it. He soon found his groove and swirled his finger around and around, stopping only to show us how much cream was on his finger from time to time.

The best part was that it rinsed away easily, the kids and the table were both clean, and they had a great time. Please note: Don't try this with younger kids who still like to experiment with their mouths, and be sure to use regular, not menthol shave cream which can sting little eyes like crazy!
