The types of toys suggested for 2-4 year olds would be things that challenge their fine and gross motor skills. Also, this is the perfect age to introduce scissors, letters, numbers and shapes. The toys that reinforce real life experiences such as the dress-up, kitchen, or tools are great too! Melissa and Doug makes some incredible products for this age such as the Magnetic Reponsibility Chart. I also would personally recommend the Felt board and felt packets. Educational Warehouse has the perfect felt set for your toddler: colors, nursery rhymes, dinosaurs, letters, shapes... these entertain the children and help build creativity as well. The Design & Drill toy sounds like fun and would appeal to young boys in particular. Children can let their creativity run wild and create their own designs, or following the set's activity cards to make pictures and patterns-from trains and boats to flowers and fish.
