I. Concepts to be taught:

III. Materials/ Media Needed:
·Book "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs" By Jon Scieska
·Crayons
·Paper
·Voter's box
·"I Voted!" stickers
·Graph
·Wolf and Pig stickers

IV. Teaching/ Learning Procedure:
A. Motivation
· Ask the children:
"Do you remember the story of the Three Little Pigs? I have another story to share with you about that incident- but this is the wolf's side of the story."
Read the story, "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs By: A Wolf"


B. Instructional Strategy
· Say to the children:
" Do you know what it means to vote?" (Take any answers that may be offered and write them on the board.) Explain to the children that voting is a chance for them to speak up, share their opinion, and have their opinion counted as one of a whole group. Ask the children, "Can you think of things that we might vote on or about?" (Write any answers on the board)
"I would like for you to think about the story that I just read to you. Do you believe the wolf's side of the story or the pig's side of the story? Now I would like you to use your crayons and the paper (the voting ballot) in front of you to cast your vote. Draw a picture of which character you believe- the pigs or the wolf and write a few sentences to explain why you believe them. After you have completed your voting ballot I would like you to place it in the voter's box on the table and get your "I voted!" sticker. Once all the ballots are in, I will tally them and record the votes on the graph at the front of the room using the pig and wolf stickers to record the votes."

C. Closure
· Discussion:
We will discuss which side of the story won the vote and why different people voted for that story. We will combine all the "ballots" into a booklet and we will review the pictures and reasons why the children voted the way they did.

V. Evaluation:
The teacher will interact, supervise the class discussion, and make sure that the children understand the purpose of the activity and the process of voting and why it is important to vote your own opinion. The teacher will evaluate the class by observation and reviewing ballots.
