Default test as the sole criteria?

I know quite of students who are very good at studies....you just ask any thing from them and they have answer for your question....but when it comes to test or examination, they get nervous....and score poorly in the exam resulting in poor grades. whats your view on this problem...

You are right. Some students suffer from examination phobia, so they fare poorly in the exams, though they are brilliant otherwise. However, much can be said on both sides. The best strategy would be to have an internal assessment system also. Some marks should be set aside for this type of assessment in addition to regular examination. This way, certain weaknesses in the examination system will be eliminated.

i believe that a functional teacher does not only conduct written assessment on his students otherwise he'll get an invalid result... there are several assessment that can be done but of course, written assessments cannot e discounted either!

definitely. needless to say the testing as a form of valid and sound assessment is ultimately dependent on the objective of the said assessment and the method of the administration itself. not to mention the appropriate content where the evaluation that is to come later will be based.
